Step by step for a greener future
Facilitating your business’s transition to net zero, Green Steps offers key products like renewable energy, biomethane and carbon offsets
What we do
Green Steps supports businesses in reducing their carbon footprint. The first step is calculating corporate and product carbon footprints, followed by developing climate action plans that include transitioning to renewable energy sources. Facilitating your business’s transition to net zero, Green Steps offers key products like renewable energy (EACs), biomethane and carbon offsets. Green Steps also helps businesses to invest in carbon removal and reduction projects, and to communicate their sustainability progress to stakeholders.
Our Products
Green Steps helps your company with sourcing the following environmental commodities to reduce your carbon footprint.
Guarantees of Origin (GoOs)
are certificates that are used to track and verify the production and consumption of renewable electricity. GoOs provide proof that a certain amount of electricity has been generated from a renewable source, such as wind, solar, or hydropower, and can be traded or sold in energy markets. The EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) regulates GoOs.
Biomethane
is renewable gas produced from organic waste sources such as agricultural and food waste, and landfill sites. It has a lower carbon footprint than fossil fuels, as it captures methane emissions from waste sources that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. It can be used for heating and transportation purposes, making it a promising renewable energy source in the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
Carbon Offsets
are a way for companies to compensate for their emissions by investing in projects that avoid or remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. By supporting carbon offset projects, organizations can compensate for their own emissions that cannot be avoided or reduced while also supporting sustainable development in communities around the world. Green Steps helps you to ensure that the carbon credits purchased are of high quality and meet recognized standards to ensure the effectiveness of the offsetting.
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
represent the environmental attributes of renewable electricity generation in the North American market (USA/Canada). When renewable electricity is generated, the corresponding RECs are created, and they can be bought and sold separately from the underlying electricity.
International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs)
are a type of certificate that tracks and verifies the production and consumption of renewable electricity globally. I-RECs are designed to be a standardized and transparent way of tracking renewable electricity, which can be used by companies, governments, and individuals to demonstrate their use of renewable electricity.
Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs)
are certificates that provide evidence that electricity was generated from renewable sources. REGOs are used in the United Kingdom to track and verify the renewable content of electricity.
Your Climate Strategy
5 Steps to reduce your carbon footprint
Quantify your corporate and product carbon footprint
We are offering custom-made solutions to measure the carbon footprint of your organization and products. Our tools will create corporate carbon footprint reports and product carbon footprint reports which are in line with the guidelines of the GHG protocol. This will help you understand where your emissions come from and how to prioritize your actions.
Set climate action targets
Once we have quantified your emissions we can set targets together with you to reduce them. These targets will be set in line with the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), RE100 and other initiatives, and will support you in achieving your Net Zero goals.
Reduce your carbon footprint
We support you in taking actions to reduce your emissions by transitioning to renewable energy sources. With our expertise we can easily procure renewable electricity and renewable gas, as well as carbon offsets in accordance with industry standards.
Invest in climate action projects
In addition to reducing your own emissions, we support you in the investment in climate action projects that reduce emissions elsewhere to compensate your residual emissions. This can include supporting carbon removal projects (e.g. afforestation and reforestation, soil carbon sequestration) or carbon avoidance projects (e.g. renewable energy, clean cookstoves projects).
Communicate your progress
Green Steps helps your organization in communicating the progress of your climate action initiatives to stakeholders, including employees, customers, and investors, which is essential for establishing a sustainable brand reputation. Sharing your achievements and future goals can generate support for your efforts and inspire others to take action, ultimately contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
Our Climate Projects
Green Steps develops high-impact emission reduction and avoidance projects that benefit local rural communities in their fight against climate change. The projects we are showing on our website are only a small selection of what we can offer to you.

Efficient cookstove project in Africa
- Gold Standar
- 1.2 million tons of CO2 to be avoided over 5 year
- positive impact on 500,000 people
The cookstove project in Puntland and Somaliland aims to reduce the use of traditional and inefficient cookstoves that consume a lot of non-renewable charcoal and firewood leading to negative impacts on the environment and human health. The project activities include deploying efficient cookstoves intended for use with less charcoal, resulting in considerable charcoal savings, improved air quality, and job creation. The use of improved cookstoves also has social impacts, including monetary savings for households, more financial means for education and local businesses, and improved overall quality of life. The health benefits of improved air quality while cooking will also benefit households, especially for little children.
Agroforestry project in Indonesia
- VCS (Verified Carbon Standard.
- 1.7 million tons of CO2 to be sequestered over 20 year
- 2,500 hectares restore
- positive impact on 15,000 people
The agroforestry project in West Java, Indonesia addresses problems caused by deforestation and unsustainable farming practices, including impacts on the ecosystem, flora and fauna, and human life. These practices have led
to various problems such as floods, erosion, loss of natural resources, displacement, food insecurity, and loss of job opportunities. The project seeks to revitalize the watershed landscape by planting trees and shrubs to decrease communities’ vulnerability to natural disasters, and create economic benefits. The diversification of income sources will lessen people’s dependency to vegetable cropping and help them move away from deep poverty towards sustainable and secure livelihoods.
Mangrove restoration project in Indonesia
- VCS (Verified Carbon Standard/
- 2 million tons of CO2 to be sequestered over 20 year
- $ 2,500 hectares restord
- positive impact on 1,600 people
The mangrove restoration project aims to restore the lost mangrove forests on the north and south coast of Java island, Indonesia. The loss of these forests due to activities like shrimp production and rice fields has resulted in the loss of flood barriers, biodiversity, and fish stock, leaving communities exposed to extreme climate events and food insecurity. The project involves planting almost 8 million mangrove seedlings on an area of 2,500 hectares, creating a natural barrier against flooding and the influx of saline water, while also enhancing livelihoods and increasing biodiversity.
