Greensteps secures ISCC trader with storage certification for Bio LNG
Greensteps has secured ISCC Trader with Storage certification, enabling the company to trade certified Bio LNG and support growing customer demand for transparent and verifiable renewable gas solutions across international markets. Issued under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system, the certification confirms that Greensteps meets strict requirements for sustainability, traceability, and chain of custody, ensuring that sustainability attributes are properly documented and transferred throughout the value chain.
The certification builds on Greensteps’ established position in biomethane trading and environmental commodities across Europe. By combining renewable gas market expertise with a strong international trading network, Greensteps can support certified Bio LNG supply chains covering liquefaction, storage, and cross-border transactions.
The ISCC certification further strengthens Greensteps’ ability to serve key Bio LNG markets, including maritime and heavy-duty road transport. In both sectors, LNG is already widely used as a fuel, while Bio LNG offers a practical solution for reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions without requiring changes to existing engines or infrastructure. Certified Bio LNG also supports customers in meeting a growing range of regulatory and compliance requirements, including FuelEU Maritime obligations, targets under the EU Renewable Energy Directive, and emissions compliance under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).
In addition, the certification enables Greensteps to offer compliant Bio LNG through ISCC-certified LNG terminals across the European Union via virtual liquefaction pathways. This gives customers flexible access to certified Bio LNG while ensuring compliance with recognised certification standards and full traceability throughout trading and storage operations.
